About Us
HISTORY
The Bavarian Beergarden Band was started by Karl Kochishan (Accordion) and brother, Stephan (Clarinet). I joined the band a few years later, and took over the leadership when Karl retired and moved to Sacramento. The early band played traditional German folk music to an audience who knew most of the songs and DANCED ! That audience is no longer around... few recognize the older music, and few Waltz, Polka, or Schottisch either. We keep much of the traditional music, but add "Schlager" and contemporary Oktoberfest songs to reach a younger crowd with their diverse musical interests. But it's still fun !
